Dodge City - 6/12/21
Hello Cowboys,
Book 32: Dodge City: Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, and the Wickedest Town in the American West (9/10)
Premise: Dodge City, Kansas was considered a lawless town where many well known cowboys, outlaws, and events lived, visited or took place.
This book focuses more on Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson than Dodge City, following them often when they leave to go on adventures. But there is a heavy emphasis on how they held different law officer positions and helped make the town a safer place.
It also mentions there interaction with many other people Doc Holiday, Billy the Kid, Jesse James, and more. They also talk about other famous wild west town they visited including Deadwood and Tombstone. And even major events like the shoot out at the OK corral. The author vividly draws the picture of what life was like for them and many events they went through.
The author also talks about how he was trying to take out all of the 'Lore' about these peoples lives, many of which came about when they were still alive. Dime store novels telling of their tales, making them grander and more heroic then what actually happened.
Overall this was a great peak in at the "wild west" of old and paints a beautiful and sometimes deadly picture of what it was like to live in the untamed wilderness of the American wilderness.
so go west young men, and grow up with your country,
and remember dear readers, Stay Vivid.
